Discovering that obeying the call is not always easy is a realization that hits many Christians when faced with difficulties. The Christian calling is far from easy; it is a challenging yet exhilarating journey. Our calling was never intended to be a walk in the park. Some might assume that if they are following God’s plan and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, pursing their God-given dreams should unfold effortlessly. However, whether answering the call to write a book,
start a business, establish a church group, or serve the homeless, trials, challenges, and provocations are inevitable.
From the moment I embraced the calling to launch a magazine, the journey was filled with its share of challenges. The initial surprise came when I had to make a firm decision to explicitly label it a “Christian Magazine.” I was cautioned that this might make it challenging to attract adverts from companies catering to diverse religious audiences, as they might be hesitant to associate with a magazine exclusively for Christians. True to the warning, securing advertisements to sustain the magazine proved to be an uneasy task.
Many of God’s devoted followers throughout history have confronted daunting challenges and endured persecution.
In “Dear Christian Creative,” Mercy Ebuetse tackles the critical role of Christian Creatives in today’s media-driven battle for souls.
